Public weighs in on Wayne Township recreation potential

Years have passed since Zindel Park was open to the public, but Wayne Township has entered into a lease agreement with the City of Lock Haven and has plans on opening the park up to the public.

The Wayne Township Supervisors have entered into a lease agreement with the City allowing the Supervisors to proceed with plans to develop 80 acres of Zindel Park for recreational purposes. The Lock Haven City Authority entered into the 25 year renewable lease after approving the agreement in early March, 2009. The park is located within Wayne Township but is owned by the Authority because it is close to Keller Reservoir.

The Supervisors were successful in pursuing a grant through the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and will be receiving $63,000 which will be used to begin renovations at the park starting with a pavillion, handicapped access and parking.
